Multi-Instrumentalist, Singer-Songwriter, and   Composer,'Outlaw Poets' - 'Thin Aire Project' Leader  Tom Aggeles' musical roots run deep...

He was raised in a house filled with music; his mother was a cabaret chanteuse and film actress in Europe. Tom’s grandfather was Concert Master with the Hamburg Symphony. Growing up, Tom sang in church choirs; crooned with local kids-on-the-corner a' cappella groups, and would entertain the family pets and neighborhood kids by staging “variety shows” with his brothers and sisters. The boy had been known to run through his Bronx NY neighborhood, robbing neighbor-victims’ of their garbage can lids…big, loud and perfect for a young 'percussionist'! He hid his 'instruments' under his bed...until found out...and , yes, the BEAT did go on...

At age 13, Tom was introduced to the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" during a visit to a rehearsal session with a local Bronx group...The Blues Magoos. After years of Broadway "show-tunes", church music, opera, and the pop music of the 50's/early 60's,The Road shifted...Big Time! Playing with local pal-bands, doing schoolhouse gigs, dances and friends' parties, Tom played guitars and drums in various incarnations.  During his journey into the music explosion of the 60's, he'd have opportunities to jam with the likes of Mike Pinera (Blues Image/Iron Butterfly), Eddie Brigati (Young Rascals / Joey Dee and The Starliters) and others.

After stints in both the U.S. Merchant Marine and the 82nd Airborne Division, Tom went to on to school & studied percussion & voice at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.

“In the Southern Appalachians...there is an immeasurable wealth of musical talent. There were endless opportunities to just sit in and play great 'in the moment' music...lots of good pickin' in those hills. I was working my way through school as a drummer doing  summer 'tour' gigs with a Top 40 band, and did sound and lighting gigs at the legendary, if not infamous regional venue, ‘P.B. Scott’s Music Hall’. “I got to hang out and work  with some of American music's most recognized artists like BB King, John Prine, Delbert McLinton, New Grass Revival, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, John Hartford, 'Papa' John Creach, Guy Clark, Ricky Skaggs, Gregg Allman, Sea Level, JJ Cale, Poco, Leon Russell, Doc & Merle Watson, Maria Muldaur...and more. It was an incredible time to be a musician in those hills...still is. I was very fortunate to have been in their company.”

After nearly 30 years of creative activity, Tom's now involved in ongoing projects, including continued songwriting, film sound, organic/ambient music composition and a few live performances.
